Pin Valley National Park

Pin Valley National Park is located in the cold desert region at district of Lahaul and Spiti in Himachal Pradesh. Pin Valley National Park is bordered by the Great Himachal National Park in the southwest and Rupi Bhabha Sanctuary in the south.

Due to high altitude, the flora of the Pin Valley National Park comprises of Dry Alpine Forests and Dwarf Juniper Scrub Forests. The trees found within the park are the Bhojpatra (Betula utilis), Bhutal (Juniperus mecropoda), Himalayan Cedar, Populus Spp and Salix Spp.

Pin Valley National Park is home to the rare Siberian Ibex and Snow Leopard. Among other prominent inhabitants of the Pin Valley National Park are the Bharal (Pseudois nayaur), Blue Rock Pigeon (Columba livia), Blue Sheep (Pseudois Nayaur), Fox (Vulpes vulpes), Himalayan Black Bear (Selenarctos thibetanus), Himalayan Brown Bear (Ursus arctos), Himalayan Marmot (Marmota bobak), Himalayan Snow-cock (Tetraogallushim alayensis), Mouse Hare, Ibex (Capra ibex), Indian Porcupine (Hystrix indica), Indian Wolf (Canis lupus), Partridge (Aleetoris choker), Red Billed Chough (Pijrrhocrax grackles), Snow Partridge (Lerwa lerwa), Snow Pigeon, Tibetan Gazzle, Tibetan Wild Ass (Equus hemionus kiang), Wolf (Canis lupus), Woolly Hare and Wooly Flying Squirrel (Eupetaurus cinereus). The birds making the scenario colorful at Pin Valley National Park are the Chukor, Himalayan Snowcock, Snow Partridge and Tibet Snow Finch.

The best season to visit the Pin Valley National Park is from May to October.
