Access : Rail : The nearest railhead is at Ramnagar, 50 kms. from the main park campsite at Dhikala. Road : Corbett National Park lies some 300 km to the northeast of Delhi.

Best time to visit : The best season to visit Corbett National Park is between Feb-May. It is closed from mid-June to mid- November.
Introduction : The Corbett National Park, located in the terai region is India''''s first ever national park. The park was established in 1936 as the Hailey National Park, following the advice of the hunter-naturalist Jim Corbett. The park covered 520 sq. km in 1986. ''''Project tiger'''', which was set up with the help of the World Wildlife Fund, was launched at Dhikala, in the Corbett National Park on April 1, 1973. This project was aimed at saving the Indian tiger (Panthera tigris tigris) from extinction.
Wildlife Species : The major wildlife found in the Corbett National Park is the Tiger, asian elephant, leopard, sloth bear, gaur, sambar, hogg deer. Other animals found here are the rhesus monkey and common langur, while the long-snouted gharial, marsh crocodile, cobras and pythons. A large variety of birds can be spotted here like the pied kingfisher, crested serpent eagle, fishing eagle and Himalayan grey headed fishing eagle.
Vegetation : The Corbett National Park consists of mixed deciduous and sal forests and stretches of savannah grasslands can be seen here. Chir Pine trees, shisham, khair and haldu trees are found in the forest.
Safaris inside the park : Elephant and jeep safaris are provided for the visitors.
