Access : By Air : Manas Park is 176-kms from Guwahati. The nearest airport is Borjhar. By Rail : The nearest railhead is situated at Barpeta road. By Road : Buses regularly ply from Guwahati to Barpeta Road.
Introduction : Manas Tiger Reserve is the only tiger reserve in Assam. It is situated on the bank of river Manas with the background of the Sub-Himalayan hills. It has an area of about 360 sq km.
Wildlife Species : The sanctury is not only famous for the tigers but it is also important for it''s rarest species like hispid hares, pigmy hog, and the golden langur, other wildlife species found are elephant, buffalo, swamp deer, hornbill, hog deer, etc. Hundreds of winged species migrate to the friendly climate of Manas during winters. Among them are riverchats, forktails, cormorants,and various types of ducks including the ruddy shelduck. The woodland birds along with the Indian hornbill and the great pied hornbill can bre seen here.
Accomodation : The Tourism Department has two tourist lodges one at Barpeta road and the other at Bansbari. The State forest also has two bunglows in the forest.
