Introduction : The Rajaji National Park, founded in 1966, spreads over an area of about 820 sq km. Rajaji National Park is situated along the hills and foothills of Shiwalik ranges in the Himalayan foothills and represents the Shiwalik eco-system. Spread over an area of 820 sq kms., Rajaji is a magnificient ecosystem nestled in the Shivalik ranges and the beginning of the vast Indo–Gangetic plains, thus representing vegetation of several distinct zones and forest types. Thus Rajaji National Park attracts a large number of wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers to the park.
Wildlife Species : Rajaji National Park offers wonderful opportunities for viewing the wild in their natural habitat. The wildlife here includes elephant, tiger, panther, bear, chital, sambar, wild boar, kakar, python, monitor lizard and a wide variety of avian fauna.
Flora : The forest here mainlt comprises of Sal forests, Reverine forests, Board –leaved mixed forests, Scrubland and grassy.
