Wildlife - Tour in Orang Wild Life Sanctuary

Location : The park is situated on the north bank of the river Brahmaputra near Tezpur in Assam. Area : 78.81 sq kms.

Best Time to Visit : October to March.

Access : By Air: Tezpur is the nearest airport to Orang. However Guwahati has better connections with almost all the major cities to India. By Rail : The nearest railhead is Rongapara both Tezpur and Guwahati are connected very well by the rail network of India. By Road : It is about 65km from Tezpur, 127 km from Guwahati. The sanctuary is 15 km off the national highway near Orang town (Dhansirimukh). 

Introduction : Orang Wild Life Sanctuary, situated on the north bank of river Brahamaputra near Tezpur in Assam, is spread over an area of about 78.81 sq kms. It is said to be a minature of the Kaziranga National Park. It was established as a sanctuary in 1985 and as a National Park in 13th April 1999.

Wildlife Species : The wildlife that can be seen here is the great Indian one-horned rhinocerous, elephant, lepord, sambar, barking deer, tiger. Various species of birds including pelican, cormorant, graylag goose, large whistling teal, great adjutant stork, king fisher, king vulture have also found this park as their ideal habitat.

Park Safari Timings : Visitors can enter the area only in the mornings or afternoon preferably on elephant back.

 Accommodation : Orang offers two resthouses .
